From Writers, Publishers, to Community Corner

 

In addition to workshops and discussions, ASEAN Literary Festival 2014 also presents some of the special events that will enliven the festival.

There are Corner of Writers, Publishers, Literary Community, Embassies and Ethnic Music. Every corner was filled by several parties with their respective programs.

Writers’ Corner, for example. This side events, will present three programs, all of them should be attended.

First, the program was given the title “Wiji Thukul: The Work and The Story” with Joko Pinurbo and Mumu Aloha as speakers. In this session, will be completely stripped of the figure of the poet Wiji Thukul, authorship and his struggle. This session is free of charge, and will be held on the second day of the festival, Saturday, March 22, 2014, 12 noon-1 pm.

“Writers in the area of conflict” became the theme for the second Writers Corner program which takes place on Saturday, March 22, 2014, at 3 - 4 pm. The session will present three writers from conflict areas; Arafat Nur (Aceh), Aprila Wayar (Papua) and Erni Aladjai (Central Sulawesi). In this session, the speakers will share their experience on how they write their story and what sort of challenge.

On the last day of the festival, Sunday, March 23, 2014, at 3-4 pm, Writers Corner session presenting the theme “Writers and Community Movement”. As speakers, there are Muhidin M Dahlan (radiobuku), Gola Gong (rumahdunia), Benny Arnas (FLP-Sumatra), and Dicky Senda (DusunFlobamora).

A number of publishers will also enliven the Publishers Corner in ASEAN Literary Festival 2014. Among them, there are Gramedia, Bentang Pustaka, Gagas Media, Plot Point, Bukufixi and Terfaktab.

PlotPoint is rumored to be carrying the writers Clara Ng and Icha Rahmanti with the theme of program; "Building a story for children". While Bentang and Gramedia were preparing an agenda and other special programs.

The festival atmosphere will certainly become more crowded with the presence of a number of literary community in Community Corner. Right now, the Boards of festival are in processing of curation of the community. Each community will bring their own programs as well.

In addition to the three corner above, there are still two more which would be present;  Embassy Corner and Ethnic Music Corner.

All these corners will attend ASEAN'S Literary Festival events, all day from 10.00 am until 9 pm at night (21-23 March 2014). Each visitor of the festival is free to visit the stand of each performer and it is free of charge.
